Chicago raid for catalytic converter thefts connected to Schaumburg

Police: Elgin man swallowed heroin during arrest

An Elgin man is expected in bond court this morning on numerous drug charges after police say he swallowed a bag of heroin to destroy evidence as police searched his home. Angelo Hopson, 32, of the 800 block of Seminole Drive, was arrested after a four-month investigation in which Hopson delivered heroin to undercover officers. Full story.

Schaumburg man acquitted for accidental child porn

A Schaumburg man who was downloading large World War II documents had no idea child porn had gotten mixed in with his downloads until they were on his computer. Forensic evidence sided with the history buff and a judge agreed yesterday, acquitting him of child pornography charges. Full story.

Elgin residents accuse councilwoman of violating the election law

Councilwoman Rose Martinez didn't report campaign contributions of $1,000 or more to the Illinois State Board of Elections within the mandatory five days, two Elgin residents allege. 7 arrested in Aurora sex sting, 2 for seeking sex with minors

Authorities have arrested seven people in a prostitution sting, including two more in an online operation in which people answer ads to have sex with underage girls and are promptly arrested by police when they arrive at an Aurora hotel. Full story.

West Chicago man gets 10 years for abusing girl in his care

A West Chicago man found guilty of sexually abusing a girl in his care for four years was sentenced to 10 years, officials said Wednesday. Nicacio Jaimes-Moreno, 52, pleaded guilty in October 2014 to one count of knowingly transporting a minor with the intent to engage in sexual activity. Full story.
