7 arrested in Aurora sting, 2 for seeking sex with minors

Authorities have arrested seven people in a prostitution sting, including two more in an online operation in which people answer ads to have sex with underage girls and are promptly arrested by police when they arrive at an Aurora hotel.

William Shyu, 30, of the 300 block of Tangley Oaks Trial, Lisle, and Anthone J. Caradine, 27, of the 1200 block of Grand Avenue, Romeoville, face six to 30 years imprison if convicted of the most severe charge of involuntary sexual servitude of a minor.

They were arrested Friday in the same type of sting that netted eight arrests from December 2014 through January 2015.

In the sting, Aurora detectives and agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations placed ads on a website that offered sexual services from underage girls, police said.

The officers made arrangements with each suspect to meet at a local hotel and once they arrived, they were arrested.

Shyu is due in court April 16 and Caradine on Friday, according to court records. Both were being held on $400,000 bail, meaning each must post $40,000 to be released while the charges are pending.

“These arrests should serve as a wake-up call to anyone considering participating in crimes that victimize children,” Aurora Police Chief Greg Thomas said. “We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners at all levels to eliminate these disgusting crimes from the city of Aurora.”

Police also arrested one man, four women and a 17-year-old homeless girl from Texas in another online prostitution sting.

Arrested in the prostitution sting were: Abelardo L. Lopez, 42, of the 800 block of Kane Street, Aurora; Charletta L. King, 29, of the 2500 block of North Manheim Road, Franklin Park; Linda N. Houston, 23, of the 5500 block of Windy Knoll Drive, Loves Park; and Jasmine B. Jenkins, 26, of the 4000 block of Cottage Park Court, Arlington, Texas.

Police said all arrested are accused of propositioning an undercover officer and agreed to exchange sex for money, and that there was no connection between Jenkins and the 17-year-old homeless girl.

The Texas girl is now in protective custody with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, police said.

“(Homeland Security Operations) is committed to aggressively pursue heinous individuals who prey on society's most vulnerable citizens — our children,” said Gary Hartwig, special agent in charge of ICE Homeland Security Operations in Chicago.
