2. The search for a Libertyville resident and Iraq War veteran who has been missing since Dec. 1 ended Friday when the body of 30-year-old Dan Nerstrom was found, dead of an apparent suicide.

3. A 76-year-old man was killed Sunday morning when fire broke out in an upstairs room of an Antioch-area home where he and six others, including his wife, daughter and three of his grandchildren, were living.

6. Verlyn “Swede” Roskam, the father of U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, is being remembered as a man of deep faith and generosity. The elder Roskam died Friday at the age of 85.

8. Renovations to parks around the suburbs, including in Arlington Heights, Roselle, St. Charles and South Elgin, are all on hold after Gov. Bruce Rauner suspended state grants due to the state's fiscal crisis.
