East Dundee holds memorial St. Patrick's Day parade

About 80 units took part in the annual Thom McNamee Memorial St. Patrick's Day parade Saturday in East Dundee. The parade stepped off from Rosie O'Hare's Public House at Wenholz Avenue and Water Street around 11 a.m. and dispersed at Bandito Barney's.

“Each year, it seems to get bigger and bigger,” said Eileen McNamee, one of the organizers.

The parade was founded by McNamee's brother, Thom, more than a decade ago. He owned both Rosie O'Hare's and Bandito Barney's until he died in 2009.

This year's theme was DUbliNDundee. Parade entries were judged for the Best in Community, Entertainment, Clan, and Business, with the crowd choosing its favorite float.
