Dist. 54 students advance to state in PTA competition

The following students from District 54 moved on to the state level for Reflections, a PTA writing and fine arts competition. The theme of the 2014-15 Reflections Program was "The World Would Be a Better Place If." District 54 students were able to submit an entry in any of the following six arts areas: Film/video production, dance/choreography, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts.

There will be a reception honoring the Reflections students from PTA District 37 (which includes School District 54) whose entries advanced to the state level on March 3, at Virginia Lake School, in Palatine.

Dance Choreography: Reagan Guthrie, grade five, Armstrong School, "Wake Up World"; Sydney Minch, grade five, Fairview School, "Can't Buy Me Love"; Stephanie Hultgren, grade six, Link School, "Be Yourself"; and Cayla Skuran, grade six, Blackwell School, "Who I Am."

Film Production: Aidan Molberger, grade one, Collins School, "The World Would Be A Better Place If Teddy Bears Could Play Baseball"; Shreyansh Satapathy, grade two, Fairview School, "The World Would Be A Better Place If Super Heroes Were Alive"; Angela Tomaso, grade five, Enders-Salk School, "If Every Bully Saw A Smile"; Abigail Alcantara, grade six, Stevenson School, "Less Pollution Better Solution"; and Olivia Messerges, grade six, Lincoln Prairie School, "What I Think."

Literature: Karina Shah, grade one, Campanelli School, "The World and Us"; Shlokah Sarkar, grade three, Blackwell School, "With a Touch of Magic"; Jasmine Patel, grade four, Fairview School, "Smiling Trees"; Nihar Shetty, grade four, Einstein School, "The World Would Be A Better Place If"; Riya Jain, grade five, Campanelli School, "5 Virtues"; Haley Allenspach, grade five, Campanelli School, "The Best Day of My Life"; and Rose Gruenwald, grade eight, Lincoln Prairie School, "Part Two."
