Two men arrested in Mount Prospect shooting

Mount Prospect police charged two men with recklessly discharging a firearm and aggravated unlawful discharge of a weapon following a report of shots fired about 8:46 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Canford Cliffs Road, police said.

Officers responded to witnesses who reported seeing two men run through the parking lot and enter a silver vehicle immediately after the gun shots, police said. Officers located a vehicle matching the description traveling north on Busse Road and stopped it, according to a police spokesman.

Officers charged two of the vehicle's occupants, Juan Ibarra, 22, of Hoffman Estates, and Ivan Avila, 18, of Rolling Meadows, with the shooting, which authorities say was directed at rival gang members.

A Cook County judge on Sunday set bail at $40,000 for Ibarra and $20,000 for Avila.

Each man must post 10 percent of his bail to be released from custody.
