Farmers Market hosts Harvest Fest in East Dundee

The village of East Dundee Farmers Market invites the community to come to Harvest Fest on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Depot, 319 N. River St.

As a celebration of the Fall Harvest, all are welcome to enjoy a small petting zoo, pony rides, touch-a-truck, stilt walker, face-painter and more.

"It's been a really wonderful year as a new market. The farmers, the chefs and all the vendors have been so supportive," said Lael Miller, village president. "We've seen hundreds of residents come through for our community lunches like the 'PIGnic,' 'Macho Nacho Throwdown' and the 'Cornified Challenge.' It's been a great addition to the downtown. We're looking forward to next year."

The Touch-a-Truck display will include a police car, fire truck, ambulance, street sweeper, backhoe, and small farm equipment. Representatives from the East Dundee Police Department, East Dundee Fire Protection District and East Dundee Public Works may be available for pictures depending on the community needs at the time.

Sponsored by the village of East Dundee, the Farmers Market is on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It features only food and horticultural products sold by local farmers, producers and businesses. This market showcases plant and vegetable farmers, locally grown organic vegetables and bulbs, infused balsamic vinegar, olive oils, pickles and pickled vegetables, New Orleans-style cooking, breakfast sandwiches, fresh-from-the-oven breads, a vertical aeroponic growing system and natural soaps, makeup (made from garden herbs) and soy candles. Only foods and horticultural products sold by local farmers, producers and businesses are featured at the Farmers Market. Come enjoy the live music, daily raffles, various artists and more.
