Cary Park District to hold blood drive

The Cary Park District and Heartland Blood Centers will host a "Guns and Hoses Blood Drive" to show support for the community's police and fire departments.

The blood drive will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Community Center, 255 Briargate Road, Cary.

All donors will receive a "Give a Pint - Get a Pint" Culver's coupon and a "Guns and Hoses" T-shirt. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Schedule your appointment online at www.heartlandbc.org or call the Cary Park District at (847) 639-6100.

All donors receive free mini-medical exams on site and information about their temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure and hemoglobin level. To be a blood donor, individuals must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with written parental permission; weigh at least 110 pounds; be symptom free of cold, flu and allergies; and be in general good health. Donors who have traveled outside the United States within the past 12 months should contact Heartland at (800) 7TO-GIVE to determine eligibility.
