5 things to do in the suburbs this weekend

Indoors or out, this weekend offers a little something for everyone. Music lovers might be drawn to concerts in Grayslake or Aurora. Families can pick out a glass pumpkin in Lisle, or a real one in South Elgin. And the Halloween fun even extends to pups at a special event in Mount Prospect.

<b>Gourds of glass</b>: See thousands of pumpkins made of blown glass at the Morton Arboretum's fourth annual Glass Pumpkin Patch. Guests can watch demonstrations by glass blowers, purchase the pumpkins and shop a farmers market. The Patch is free with paid $9-$12 arboretum admission. Children 1 and younger are free. The arboretum is at 4100 Route 53, Lisle. mortonarb.org. 7 a.m. to sunset Saturday and Sunday.</h3>

<b>All aboard</b>: Head to the Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin for the family-friendly Pumpkin Trolley - or indulge in a Ghost Story train ride after dark. Tickets for the pumpkin trolley are $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, $2 for children 3-11 and free for those under 3. Riders can also pick out a pumpkin. Tickets for the ghost ride - which includes a campfire, s'mores and ghost stories - are $13.20 and should be reserved at www.foxtrolley.org. The museum is at 365 S. La Fox St., South Elgin. Pumpkin trolley 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, ghost rides after 5 Saturday.</h3>

<b>H'Owlween</b>: Randhurst Village, at Rand and Elmhurst roads in Mount Prospect, hosts its Third Annual Hoots and H'Owls Fall Festival, which kicks off with a Halloween pet parade and costume contest. The event also includes live owls, a candy sculptor and more. Free admission. randhurstvillage.com. Pet parade at check-in at 11 a.m. Saturday, other activities 1 to 4 p.m.</h3>

<b>All that jazz</b>: "A Different World" TV star Jasmine Guy performs jazz and blues classics with The Avery Sharpe Trio in "Raisin' Cane: A Harlem Renaissance Odyssey" on Saturday at College of Lake County's Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. $38-$48; $37-$47 seniors; $12-$15 youth. (847) 543-2300 or jlcenter.clcillinois.edu. 8 p.m. Saturday.</h3>

<b>Pop pianist</b>: Listen to pianist and composer Jim Brickman in concert at the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora. $55-$65. (630) 896-6666 or paramountaurora.com. 8 p.m. Saturday.</h3>
