John Feske Honored with the Park District Dedicated to Excellence Award

John Fenske received the Des Plaines Park District's Dedicated to Excellence Award on October 2nd, from Facilities Manager Shelli Sarg. Fenske was recognized for his work ethic, customer service skills, and his long-standing loyalty to the District. The Dedicated to Excellence Award is presented three times a year to employees who have made a positive contribution to the Park District. Potential recipients are nominated by staff members, and evaluated by the Employee Relations Committee and Administrators for creativity, responsibility, community relations, and customer service.

Fenske began his career at the Des Plaines Park District in June of 1997 as a Day Camp Counselor. After demonstrating great leadership potential, he was promoted to Assistant Day Camp Director in 1999-2001. This position also included supervising the After School programs, Youth Trips, and Special Events. In 2001, Fenske became the Front Desk receptionist and Building Supervisor at Prairie Lakes. He puts his customer service skills to use daily as he greets Fitness Center members and facility guests, registers participants, and answers Park District related questions. In addition to these responsibilities, Fenske is also a driver for the district's day and weekend adult trips.

"John is a dedicated and hardworking employee. He is willing to step up and help out a fellow co-worker whenever needed, and is willing to go above and beyond the scope of his job," said Sarg. "He is well liked by patrons, Fitness Center members and his co-workers."
