Aging agency offers brain fitness course

Studies over the last decade have shown the benefits of mental skills training - as well as exercise, nutrition and lifestyle choices - in warding off dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

The Barrington Area Council on Aging will offer the Total Memory Workout Program, a six-session course focused on brain fitness and health. Areas covered include how memory works, lifestyle choices, nutrition, organizational tools and memorization strategies. The classes will be taught by BACOA staff members who have been trained in the program.

The class will be offered from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, July 8 through Aug. 12. Cost is $35 per person, which includes the book, Total Memory Workout; 8 Easy Steps to Maximum Memory Fitness.

For information or to register, call Bonnie at BACOA at (847) 852-3890.

The program is supported with a grant from the Barrington Area Community Foundation.
