Lombard Jaycees Requesting Nominations

As part of their ongoing commitment to the community, the Lombard Jaycees are looking for nominations for their annual Man of the Year and Distinguished Service Awards.

Following the National "Character Counts!" Program, the Distinguished Service Awards look for those in the community who excel in the areas of Trustworthiness, Caring, Citizenship, Fairness, Responsibility, and Respect. For more information about the areas, please visit www.charactercounts.org. The Man of the Year should exemplify each area of the Distinguished Service Awards and should have a positive impact on the Village of Lombard.

People are nominated by the community at large through letters of 500 words or less and the nomination form. Both letter and nomination form MUST be included to be considered. Nominees must be residents of Lombard or must work in Lombard. Parents, Business Owners, Coaches, Community Leaders, Neighbors, Teachers, and Church Leaders are some examples of where to begin your search.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Lombard Jaycees website at www.lombardjaycees.org or by contacting Jackie West (president@lombardjaycees.org). The deadline for submissions is April 21, 2014.

The winners will be notified by phone and an awards ceremony will be held at the Lombard Village Hall to honor all Distinguished Service Awards Winners, Man of the Year nominees, and the Man of the Year. Additionally, the Man of the Year will be invited to ride in the Village of Lombard's Lilac Day Parade.

The Lombard Jaycees is a not-for-profit organization which provides Lombard area residents with the opportunity to better themselves and grow personally and professionally while giving back to the community through community service and fundraising efforts. Annual events include the Taste of Lombard, Haunted House, Christmas Baskets, & countless other worthwhile projects that positively impact the community. Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Lombard Jaycees Clubhouse located at 376 E. St. Charles Road, Unit #22.
