Elgin area singers invited to join Northern Kane Chorale

The Northern Kane Chorale is looking for singers in the Elgin area, who enjoy singing choral music of different genres.

Directing the new community choir is Gregor King, lead music teacher at Cambridge Lakes Charter School.

"I am excited to be working with the Northern Kane Chorale and introducing some great choral works that range from a beautiful song like the 'The Seal Lullaby' by Eric Whitacre, to an energetic jazz arrangement of 'Happy Day'," said King.

In addition to his duties at Cambridge Lakes, King is a member of the St. Charles Singers, a professional chamber choir and has soloed with Chicago area choruses and ensembles.

The Northern Kane Chorale meets every other Monday at 7 p.m. in the Green building at Cambridge Lakes Charter School, 900 Wester Blvd., Pingree Grove. The next two rehearsals are on Feb. 17 and March 3.

"A choir can connect people from different communities like Elgin, South Elgin, Hampshire and Pingree Grove," said King. "It's a great way to meet your neighbors, experience the joy of singing and come together to create beautiful music."
