Prospective students can spend the night at Judson University

As high school students search for the right university to apply for this winter, Judson University will host an Overnight Preview Day Sunday to Monday, Jan. 19-20, on its Elgin campus, 1151 N. State St.) Students can connect with the community and envision themselves as Judson students.

Students that attend Judson’s Preview Day will get to spend Sunday night with current students and experience Judson dorm life. On Monday, they’ll get a full tour of Judson’s 90-acre campus located on the Fox River in Elgin. They will also attend a meeting for their desired major, where they can meet faculty and students in the program. In addition, they will get to attend chapel, dine in the cafeteria, and experience several other every day campus life activities.

The 10 a.m. chapel service Monday will feature the Gospel Choir of Second Baptist Church in Elgin, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Judson University is a fully accredited, private Christian university of the liberal arts, sciences and professions. Among more than 50 majors, minors and 10 pre-professional programs, Judson offers degrees in Architecture, Art and Design, Business, Education, Worship Arts, Film and Digital Media Studies, Speech Communication and the Performing Arts, English, Christian Ministries, Biblical and Theological Studies, Music, History and Intercultural Studies, Exercise and Sport Sciences, Psychology and Sociology, and Math and Sciences. The school offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities with musical and theater ensembles, 18 intercollegiate sports, student government organizations, and several ministry opportunities locally and abroad.

In November, the university announced a new program, combining a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Leadership with a Master of Leadership in Ministry for traditional students to earn both degrees in less than five years. This new program is made possible by a $498,000 grant from the Kern Family Foundation.

In 2013-14, Judson celebrated its Golden Centennial Anniversary, commemorating 50 years since the college’s relocation to Elgin in 1963, after being founded in 1913 as part of Northern Theological Seminary.
