St. Edward names honorees for 25th anniversary Tidal Wave

St. Edward Central Catholic High School recently announced the 25th anniversary celebration of “Tidal Wave.” The event, “25 Years of Jazzin’ It Up” will held on Saturday, April 12, at the Marriott in Hoffman Estates.

The school named the honorees for the 25th anniversary event.

The honorary chairman of the celebration is the Rev. Joseph Linster, pastor of St. Patrick Parish in St. Charles. Linster has contributed greatly to the mission of St. Edward High School for many years.

St. Edward Alumnus of the Year is Jack Childers, Class of 1973. He is a treasured St. Edward High School alumnus and is being recognized for his extraordinary dedication to education and sports at the school and also in the greater Elgin community.

The St. Gregory the Great Award is given to a faculty/staff member that exemplifies excellence in education. The 2014 recipient is Timothy Brieger, Class of 1991 who teaches social studies at St. Edward. He is both a great teacher and soccer coach at the school.

The Loyal Order of St. Edward Award is given to a non-graduate who has made a significant contribution to St. Edward High School. Winning the award this year are Don and Louise Cerny. The couple have assisted with years of Tidal Wave events and have donated countless hours to help ensure the success of the annual event.

The Patron of the Year Award is given to a company that has been especially kind to the school through a service. The 2014 recipient is Hopkins Grease Company. Mike Hopkins and Tim Hopkins are co-owners of the company.
