Author, professor leads workshop on writing children’s books in West Dundee

Submitted by Suzanne Lattanzio

Local author and Judson University professor Janet Riehecky will offer “Introduction to Writing Children’s Books” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Barnes & Noble, located at Spring Hill Mall, 1468 Spring Hill Mall Blvd., West Dundee.

Is there a best-selling children’s book inside of you just waiting to be written? Is 2014 the year you finally write that children’s book? This two-hour seminar is an overview of the process from first words to illustrations to publisher’s considerations, followed by an extended question-and-answer period.

Riehecky has written more than 115 books for children, is a communications professor at Judson University in Elgin, plus a popular presenter of school and library literacy events. Riehecky’s ability to communicate the joy of writing to children during school visits often incorporate her experiences as both a dinosaur hunter and magician, and her extensive writing resume guarantees a fun and informative event for attendees.

This free event is recommended for adults and older teens. Reservations are strongly encouraged by calling (847) 426-5614 or emailing crm2185@bn.com. Educators will receive 2 CPDU credits for attending.

For information, call Suzanne Lattanzio, community relations manager, at (847) 426-4602. For more information about Janet Riehecky, visit www.janetriehecky.com.
