Elgin Community Church to host class on Christian movement

Submitted by Elgin Community Church

Elgin Community Church, 991 Deborah Ave., invites the community to join in “Perspectives on World Christian Movement” from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 14 to May 6. This program, for those in high school to adults, is open to the community.

Begun in 1974, “Perspectives” is a ministry of the U.S. Center for World Mission, a nondenominational organization in Pasadena, Calif. More than 100,000 people in the United States and 130,000 people around the world have completed the course, which invites participants to connect with God’s heart and live life with eternal significance and purpose.

It is a training tool emphasizing God’s “world-sized” role for every Christian, whether that role is played out abroad or at home is a secondary issue. The primary issue is what people are hungry to discover: vision to live a life of purpose. Discovering that vision makes this course valuable for any Christian.

It is a 15-week in-depth class with instructors in missions, education and pastors each week.

The cost is $225 for a certificate or $475 for three credit hours (graduate or undergraduate) through Trinity International University. For those who would like to sample a class before making a commitment, the Jan. 21 and 28 sessions are free. Scholarships are available.

For information or registration, visit www.perspectives.org or call the Rev. Dave Bohyer at (847) 742-6818.
