Did you know that millions of children show up to the first day of kindergarten never having seen a book before in their lives? Through no fault of their own, they begin school four years behind. Reading is the single most important skill a child needs to learn. Yet studies show that 61% of low-income families don't have any books at all in their homes for their children. Join The Goddard Schools in Illinois in collaboration with Bernie's Book Bank to collect thousands of new and/or gently used children's books to significantly increase BOOK OWNERSHIP among at-risk infants, toddlers, and school age children. Our goal is to collect 25,000 books or more before National Reading Day on January 23!
