St. Charles Free Methodist Church is opening its doors to children and adults for the "Christmas Village" display featuring five electric trains. The free display can be viewed at the church, 214 Walnut St., St. Charles, from 6 to 8 p.m. Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. to noon Sundays through Christmas.

The display features 30 porcelain buildings along with assorted figurines. Boy Scout Troop 60 assisted the church with the display's scenery last year and this year. The display's layout changes from week to week.

The display's five trains include three Lionel trains -- two freight trains and one passenger train -- manufactured before World War II. The other two trains are a Lionel "Polar Express" train and a MTH RailKing version of the Pioneer Zephyr.

A Christmas Eve candlelight service with Communion will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24. A hymn sing service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 29
