Veterans Day celebration at Kaneland school Nov. 11

On Monday, Nov. 11, Kaneland John Stewart Elementary School, 817 Prairie Valley St. in Elburn, will hold a Veteran's Day celebration. We will have a morning celebration near the flagpole at 8:50 a.m. and an afternoon assembly at 2:40 p.m.

During these events, area Boy Scouts will be raising the colors, Girls Scouts leading the pledge and fourth-graders performing their annual choral concert.

Members of the Elburn American Legion will be speaking and several students will be reading thank-you notes and poetry.

The school is inviting and encouraging veterans to join them for the end of the day assembly and morning flag raising ceremony. They would like to get as many of our service people here so the students can honor them. It will teach the students about the importance of good citizenship and patriotism.

For details, contact Heidi Gilkey, art teacher, at 10172@kaneland.org with any questions or comments.

It is our honor to have this celebration every year!
