Casino gala to benefit St, Joseph Hospital
Submitted by Presence St. Joseph Auxiliary
The Royal Fox Country Club in St. Charles will be the venue for the Presence St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary's “Casino Royale Gala” on Saturday, Nov. 9. Guests at this annual black-tie-optional fundraiser will enjoy casino games, gourmet dinner and dancing to dueling pianos.
Proceeds will benefit the Malcolm and Stella Ward Education Center and Community Rooms project at the hospital.
According to St. Charles resident Dr. Eugene J. McMahon, president and CEO, “The hospital is committed to helping people take steps toward wellness. It is vital for hospital clinicians to constantly update their clinical skills and knowledge and sharing that information with the public is key toward enhancing community health and wellness. Creating this educational center, dedicated to community health wellness programming and screenings and staff education, will provide opportunities to assist residents on measures to prevent illness and diagnose issues earlier in order to maintain wellness.”
Area philanthropists Stella and Malcolm Ward donated a major gift to endorse this effort which will involve renovation and refurbishing of rooms configured for group programming. This will include making the first floor location handicap accessible and furnished with appropriate audio visual capabilities and furniture to be conducive to educational programming.
The $100,000 project will memorialize the Wards whose notable generosity also helped support the new tower of patient rooms and services and the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center unit.
A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Vikram V. Shah, MD Award to Dr. Nasir Ahmad of Elgin Nephrology Associates, SC. This prestigious Medical Staff award is presented to a physician who is distinguished through conscientious, compassionate care of patients, along with dedicated commitment to self-improvement, professional enhancement and the betterment of the community.
The event chairwomen are Marjorie Alpert of Inverness, Heidi Edelson of Chicago and Kimberly Schwartz of Deerfield.
Early Platinum sponsors include the PSJH Medical Staff and Associated Imaging Specialists, of Elgin. Auxiliary funds have supported hospital services and capital projects for more than 40 years. Tickets are $175 per person and are available by calling (847) 695-3200, ext. 3540.
