Palatine Library offers instructor led online courses

The Palatine Public Library has acquired Learn4Life, offering cardholders access to instructor-led, online courses through the library’s website.

“Learn4Life online courses enable residents to enroll in classes covering all types of topics and subjects,” said Librarian Kris Kenney. “Whether someone is considering going back to school to pursue a degree or just interested in digital photography, the Learn4Life course catalog offers something for everyone.”

Learn4Life, developed as a result of Cengage Learning’s unique position within the library, classroom, and adult learning markets, offers access to hundreds of instructor-led online courses covering everything from health and wellness to creative writing, computer programming, GED test preparation, and more. Instructors, many working at universities around the country, develop Learn4Life courses that have continuous enrollment dates.

Patrons may enroll in up to five courses per calendar year at no cost. Courses run for six weeks, with two new lessons being released weekly (for a total of 12), and new sessions beginning every month. The courses are entirely Web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes and assignments. A dedicated professional instructor coordinates every course by pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback, and facilitating discussions.

Students can participate on library computers or from home. Visit www.palatine library.org to enroll or for more information.
