Palatine Twp. to hold seminar on appealing property tax bill

Palatine Township will host a seminar on how to file a property tax appeal at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Holiday Inn, 3405 Algonquin Road, Rolling Meadows.

Assessor Terry Kelly will be joined by Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak and staff.

Palatine Township residents can appeal their recent assessment notice until Oct. 22. Reducing a property’s assessed value can reduce property taxes. This appeal is for the new 2013 assessed value sent out earlier this year by the Cook County assessor, and reductions would appear on the second-half tax bill mailed in late 2014. Appeals can be filed at the assessor’s office, 721 S. Quentin Road, Palatine.
