Celebrate Art in Nature Sept. 29 at Crabtree

Come watch 50 artists painting along scenic nature trails at Crabtree Nature Center’s fourth annual Art in Nature event from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, in Barrington Hills. Visitors watch the artist at work and can also buy paintings throughout the day. Watercolor painting and drawing lessons will also be held.

This free event has special children’s crafts, food and live music. New this year are performances by Lake Dancers which combines music and dance to “paint” a picture.

Crabtree Nature Center is located on Palatine Road, one mile west of Barrington Road, in Barrington Hills, and is part of the Forest Preserves of Cook County.

“All the artists are very excited to be part of this and paint in such a beautiful spot.” says Carol Foster of the Barrington Cultural Arts Center, which is helping to organize the event.

Artists will pick a scenic spot on the edge of a lily pad-covered pond, flower-filled prairie or colorful wooded trail and start painting. Visitors can wander the trails and watch the artists at work till 2 p.m. At that time, all the artist will bring their artwork to be judged. Other paintings will be for sale throughout the day.
