Kaneland ACT Scores Highest in D302 History

Class of 2013 ACT Composite Highest in D302 History

Students who graduated from Kaneland High School in 2013 posted an ACT Composite Score of 21.5, which is the highest ever composite score for a district 302 graduating class. Analysis of individual subject area scores also reveal high marks in Math (21.5), Science (21.5), and the second highest scores in Reading (21.5) and English (21.0).

These comparisons are based on Kaneland graduates that took the ACT without accommodations, as this allows for a true comparison to scores from prior years. Starting in 2013, ACT has changed which students are included in the ACT senior report. For 2013 and beyond, ACT will no longer exclude scores in the ACT Senior Report for students who took the test with accommodations. This will create a new baseline for comparing scores moving forward.

Even with the changes in the way scores are reported, District 302 results for 2013 showed improvement in the Composite, Math, and Science scores. District 302 scores for the 2013 Senior class including students with accommodations were as follows: Composite 21.1; English 20.4; Math 21.2; Reading 21.0; and Science 21.1. Scores in all areas are above the State of Illinois Averages, with the composite being a full half point higher.

“Our mission is to graduate all students college, career, and community ready,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeff Schuler. “Consistent with our mission, we applaud the decision ACT has made to include students with accommodations in the Senior Report. Our 2013 results show significant growth on the ACT and we are proud of the students that have achieve these results”
