Barrington chamber to host Golf Classic July 15

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 27th annual Barrington Golf Classic on Monday, July 15, at the beautiful Inverness Golf Club. Inverness is a private, PGA tournament course that will also host the Illinois Open Championship prior to the Golf Classic, so the course will be in pristine condition.

The best-ball, four-person scramble has a shotgun start of 12:30 p.m. and welcomes golfers of all skill levels; the roster will be limited to 120. The BACC Golf Classic is open to chamber members and the public.

The day’s festivities begin at 11 a.m., when the practice green opens and buffet lunch served for players, sponsors and guests. Golfers will encounter games, giveaways and refreshments all along the course and throughout the day. Contests include Hole-in-One, Putting, Hole Game, Beat the Junior Pro with BACC Scholarship winner Charles Derrick, and many other team activities.

Following 18 holes of play, golfers will gather back at the clubhouse for the putting contest, 19th Hole celebration, dinner and awards ceremony.

Individual fee of $250 or $900 per foursome includes greens fee and cart; all contests and prizes; team photo, lunch and dinner; and hospitality gift bag. Nongolfers and spouses are invited, too, and can enjoy the 19th Hole celebration and dinner for $75.

The major sponsor of the 2013 Golf Classic is BMO Harris Bank. All hole sponsorships are already spoken for; there are other sponsorships for various contests, 150-yard markers and the Eagle package that includes a round of play for a foursome and a host of promotion opportunities, are still available.

Proceeds from the Barrington Golf Classic benefit the Lauren Brown Memorial Scholarship fund and the local business community, and help support BACC community programs all year.

The Golf Classic offers some exciting prizes for 2013, including an eight-day Hawaiian vacation for the Hole-in-One contest. Some of the prizes already donated for the silent auction with several themed packages.

With a limited field of play, interested individuals and foursomes should register soon: Online at business.barringtonchamber.com/events/index/2013-07-15; by email to Christina Keeley, director of events for the chamber, at events@barringtonchamber.com; or call the chamber office, (847) 381-2525.
