Submitted by Side Street Studio Arts

Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court, Elgin, presents “Re:Pop,” a printed arts exhibition curated by director Tanner Melvin on June 19-23. The opening reception will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 21, and feature live music by Elgin band Mere Fragments. There is a suggested donation of $5 at the door.

“Re:Pop” features the work of local Elgin artists, as well as those from Rockford and the Chicago area, including Jeremiah Catalano-Reilly, Nicolas Earl, Kimberly Fredricks, James Warren Ingallino, Todd Irwin, Jana Kinsman, Jim Lloyd, Peter Nicholas, Sarah Reed McNamara, Luis Reyes, Michael Schwindenhammer, Manny Tang, Natalie Tarnowski, and J. Adrian Vazquez.

The art of printmaking is the process of making artworks by printing, normally on paper. Printmaking normally covers only the process of creating prints with an element of originality, rather than just being a photographic reproduction of a painting.

Side Street Studio Arts was founded in 2013 by Tanner Melvin and Erin Rehberg as an outlet for the artists of Elgin. Side Street’s mission is to provide an accessible space encouraging all aspects of the artistic process from creation to curation.
