Kids can audition for Elgin Children’s Chorus

The Elgin Children’s Chorus will hold auditions from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, and 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20.

If your child is interested in auditioning for a place in the 2013-14 chorus, call (847) 931-7464 to schedule an audition. It will be held at Elgin Community College Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Educators are emphatic about the positive role that choirs play in childhood education and development, according to the 2009 Chorus America Impact Study. They agree that choir participation can help make students better participants in groups, help develop stronger social skills, lead to better emotional expression and management, improve overall academic performance, and help instill self-discipline and punctuality.

All choristers receive over 60 hours of music education for less than $6 per hour, making membership in the chorus a good value.
