Degen digs in as Stevenson’s girls track head coach

Emma Degen, who has served as assistant girls track and field coach at Stevenson the past two seasons, has been promoted to head coach.

“I am thrilled to be taking on my new role in the girls track and field program,” Degen said. “I look forward to working with the talented group of student-athletes at Stevenson and the dedicated coaching staff.”

Degen has coached two other sports at Stevenson. She has served as assistant junior varsity girls basketball coach for the past two years, and also was an assistant girls golf coach in 2011. Degen is a physical education and health teacher at Stanton Middle School in Fox Lake, where she also has served as cross country coach.

“Emma has demonstrated a strong passion for leading and developing the young ladies in our track and field program,” said SHS athletic director Trish Betthauser. “Her commitment to Stevenson athletics is contagious. I’m excited and thrilled for her and the rest of our Stevenson girls track and field program for the years to come.”
