Elgin Woman’s Club to install officers at spring luncheon

The Elgin Woman’s Club will hold its annual spring luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the Villa Olivia Country Club, Route 20 and Naperville Road in Bartlett. Patricia Gering, first vice president, along with Georgia Ross and Joy Jensen, will serve as hostesses for the May meeting.

Pat Heitman, General Federation of Women’s Club’s state president, will install new officers for the club’s 2013-14 year. Other year-end events at the meeting will include the installation of new members and a memorial service for those members who have died in last the year.

Members and guests are asked to make reservations by calling the club hotline, (847) 622-3614. Cost for the luncheon meeting and program is $25, which may be paid by check at the door the day of the meeting.

The founding of Sherman Hospital in 1888 was first project of the Elgin Woman’s Club and since the club was founded in 1887 members have supported hundreds of local projects including yearly scholarships to students from area high schools. In addition, members serve as readers in local schools, volunteer in hospitals and other agencies throughout the Elgin area and are active in recycling, conservation, women’s health, international affairs and other projects.
