Palatine picks up first MSL girls lacrosse title

Palatine, which started its girls varsity lacrosse team five years ago, won its first Mid-Suburban League championship on Monday with an exciting 9-8 victory at Barrington.

Senior attacker Jamie Lloyd, who will play for Carthage College next season, hit the winning goal in triple overtime on a penalty shot. Lloyd finished with 4 goals and 2 assists.

"The girls played extremely hard and have improved so much," said Pirates coach Leslie Schock, who started program five years ago.

Palatine goalkeeper Veronika Metanova made 19 saves for the champs while freshman Bridget Silveira added 3 goals.
