St. Mary School bids farewell to longtime teacher May 24

Mrs. Susan Casanover announced she will be retiring after a stellar 30-year career in teaching according to Saint Mary School and Parish in Buffalo Grove.

Casanover began teaching at Saint Mary School as a substitute teacher. Her performance won her a coveted staff position in the Kindergarten classroom.

Over the last twenty years she has taught religion, social studies and reading. Most recently she has been teaching language arts to 5th and 6th graders. Casanover also coordinated all the schools' activities as it relates to the Character Counts program; a program which gives children a framework for ethical living.

Casanover and her husband have been long time residents and currently reside in Buffalo Grove. As such, she has been a member of Saint Mary Parish where she is an active member of the church choir. Her son is a graduate of Saint Mary School.

On Friday, May 24th, 2013, the parish will hold a special day of celebration in thanks and appreciation honoring Mrs. Susan Casanover for her many years of service. A special mass of recognition will begin at 8:30a.m in Saint Mary Church, all are welcome to attend.
