Naperville Central coach Nussbaum hits another milestone

No. 1 Naperville Central gave coach Andy Nussbaum his 550th career win in rousing fashion Tuesday, scoring 13 runs in the bottom of the third inning to beat West Aurora 17-1.

The Redhawks (20-0, 6-0 DuPage Valley Conference) sent 18 batters to the plate in the third, the first 12 reaching safely. Kaitlyn Skarecky was 4-for-4 with a double and Laura Dierking 3-for-4 with a double and a triple.

Julie Kestas (7-0) took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, striking out eight.

WW South 3, Glenbard North 1:

Jenny Harbakus doubled, tripled and drove in 2 runs, including the game-winner, as the Tigers (8-11) rallied with 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat the No. 4 Panthers in Wheaton.

Cameron Briggs was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and winning pitcher Sammy Granger (6-7) scattered 7 hits, striking out seven. Sarah Petzold was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Lindsey Cherry (9-3) struck out seven for Glenbard North (12-3, 5-2 DVC).

Glenbard East 4, Wheaton North 3:

Brittany Plimmer singled and scored on Carissa Slobodecki's two-out single in the bottom of the ninth for the Rams. Glenbard East forced extra innings with Kailey Lyons' steal of home with two outs in the seventh.

Benet 11, Joliet Catholic 1:

Abbie Gerth was 2-for-2 with a double, run scored and 3 RBI, and Julianne Rurka doubled twice for the No. 3 Redwings (13-2, 7-1 East Suburban Catholic Conference).

Willowbrook 7, Leyden 2:

Darian Pelsor struck out 12, and Alyssa Ressinger hit 2 of the Warriors' 5 homers in Villa Park. Cheyenne Brunig, Kelly Campagna and Pelsor also went deep for Willowbrook (9-7, 3-2 West Suburban Gold).

Naperville North 9, West Chicago 1:

Alexis Solak was 2-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored, and the Huskies took advantage of walks to score 5 runs in the seventh in West Chicago.

Michelle Cavoto was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and Kailee Budicin 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for Naperville North (10-6, 5-2 DVC). Arielle McComb was 2-for-3 and scored West Chicago's only run.

Downers Grove North 19, Hinsdale Central 1:

Carolyn Nojiri went 5-for-5 with a leadoff homer for the No. 10 Trojans (13-6, 5-0 West Suburban Silver).

Metea Valley 20, East Aurora 0:

Alyssa Coletto homered, doubled and drove in 5 runs for the Mustangs (6-12, 5-5 Upstate Eight Valley). Laura Senese and Mary Przekwas each added 3 RBI.

Morton 9, Addison Trail 4:

Sabrina Muell homered for the Blazers (9-10, 2-4 West Suburban Gold).

Oak Park 5, Glenbard West 0:

Emma Baldwin threw a no-hitter with 4 strikeouts for Oak Park (7-10, 4-2 West Suburban Silver).
