McGuire hits 4th homer of season in win

Maeve McGuire hit her fourth home run of the year, third in the last four games, and No. 3 Benet beat Nazareth 5-0 on Wednesday in LaGrange Park.

Winning pitcher Emily York (8-2) struck out five and was 3-for-4 with a triple and drove in 3 runs for the Redwings (10-2, 4-1 East Suburban Catholic Conference).

Jane Trzaska (6-1) twirled a no-hitter, striking out eight with a hit batter the lone blemish, for the visiting No. 7 Raiders (12-1, 5-0 Metro Suburban Conference). Ashton Cattenhead was 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI, Tarah Valdez 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and scored 2 runs and Hannah Taylor was 3-for-3 with a double and 3 runs scored.

Montini 13, Marian Central 0:

Alyssa Sclafani was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI and Alex Dewey 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored for the Broncos (13-3, 7-0 Suburban Christian Conference Blue), who broke it open with an 11-run third inning. Winning pitcher Amy Bukovsky (2-0) struck out three.

Naperville North 4, West Aurora 0:

Casey Rechenmacher (6-0) scattered 6 hits for the host Huskies (8-3, 3-0 DuPage Valley Conference). Rachel Martin tripled and drove in a run and Naperville North scored twice in the third inning on a wild pitch and sacrifice fly.

Lisle 9, Wilmington 1:

Kelly Urban continued her hot hitting by going 3-for-5 with a triple, 5 RBI and 2 runs scored for the visiting Lions (10-4, 6-3 Interstate Eight Conference), who broke open a close game with 5 runs in the sixth. Abby Tarasewicz was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and stolen base and Summer Stitt (9-3) struck out five.

Waubonsie Valley 14, East Aurora 0:

Amy Jablonsky (1-0) fired a one-hitter with 7 strikeouts, and Amanda Minahan was 2-for-4 with a triple and 4 RBI for the No. 9 Warriors (12-3, 7-1 Upstate Eight Conference). Amanda Lack was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Shannon Hohman 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI.

Fenton 15-13, Latin 0-2:

Nicole Susmarki doubled, tripled, drove in 3 runs and scored 3 times in the opener, and went 2-for-2 with 3 RBI in the second game of a doubleheader at the Rosemont Dome. Hannah Wassmann doubled and tripled in Game 1 and homered in the second game for Fenton (11-6).

Plainfield East 8, Metea Valley 2:

Lori Obendorf was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Mustangs (4-8), who spotted host Plainfield East a 4-0 lead after two innings.

York 2, Oak Park 1:

Brooke Bandy (3-2) tossed a five-hitter, striking out five, and the Dukes scored a run in the bottom of the sixth for the win. Isabelle Jaeger was 2-for-3 with an RBI, run scored and 2 stolen bases and Sarah Milkowski drove in the other run.

Hinsdale Central 14, Proviso West 0:

Alexa Heydenberk, Mary Somerfield, Faith Koffron and Alysa Doneske all doubled for the Red Devils.

Addison Trail 12, Proviso East 1:

Danielle Ciaglia went 3-for-3 with a homer for the Blazers (7-6).

Glenbard West 7, Lane Tech 1:

Shelley Warmolts had 3 hits, 2 of them doubles, and scored 2 runs for the Hilltoppers (7-7).

Elmwood Park 4, Timothy Christian 3:

Casey Parker hit a game-winning two-run double in the bottom of the seventh for Elmwood Park (9-5).
