Stevenson High School's Science Olympiad team won its first state championship Saturday, beating longtime rivals New Trier High School and the Illinois Math and Science Academy. The team from the Lincolnshire school had finished second to New Trier the past four years. The competition was at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The team also earned its fifth straight bid to the national Science Olympiad competition at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, on May 18.
