McGrane, Pohlman have the right ideas

I am writing today to endorse Kevin McGrane and Bill Pohlman for Palatine Township trustee in the April 9th election.

Both gentlemen will bring new energy to the board. They’ve demonstrated their commitment to the voters by reaching out to residents on a door-to-door basis for the last 11 weeks.

Further, both have endorsed the goals of the Doing Things Better for Palatine Township slate — saving 5 percent of township expenses without compromising service levels; doing a strategic plan with input from the public (emphasis on gaining input from the public); and over the next four years implementing services helpful to all taxpayers, without jeopardizing the reduction in expenses.

Political opposition and nervous Nellies have been passing rumors that this will mean reductions in their favorite township program or service. The first goal is to operate more efficiently; dropping a program or support of a particular social service agency will not count toward the 5 percent goal. Kevin and Bill will do a great job of serving the community’s needs at the lowest possible cost to taxpayers.

Kevin McGrane and Bill Pohlman are intelligent and energetic. They will make great trustees. Finally, they are committed to term limits ... maximum of two terms as trustee.

I’m proud to endorse them.
