Kaneland High principal taking job in Rockford

Kaneland High School Principal Theodore “Chip” Hickman is quitting to take a job in the Rockford school district.

The Kaneland school district posted an advertisement for the principal position Tuesday.

Hickman has been principal at Kaneland for two years. He was an assistant principal at Batavia High School.

In Rockford, he will be the assistant superintendent for secondary education, starting July 1.

Before Hickman, Kaneland was served by an interim principal for two years. Before that, Tony Valente was principal for two years. Valente is now a Kaneland school board member, and principal of Proviso East High School.
