Volunteer to put on the 2013 Operation Sweet Tooth's Wounded Hero event

You are invited to become an integral part of the 2013 Operation Sweet Tooth's Wounded Hero event. It will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Depot Park in East Dundee, in conjunction with West Dundee's annual Heritage Fest.
The mission is to assist those men and women in the armed forces who have been severly wounded during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Part of the plan is to have some wounded heroes in the area visit the Dundees for the purpose of forming a relationship with the wounded and their families before the September event. Diane Ahrens of Piece-a-Cake Bakery is looking for sponsors or hosts for a spaghetti dinner, planned for April. Call Ahrens at (847) 836-6703 if you are interested in volunteering. You also are welcome to attend the planning committee meetings. The next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at the bakery, 304 N. River St. in East Dundee.
