Elk Grove drives for home-opening victory on the road

With its own grass field unplayable due to sloppy conditions, Elk Grove took to the road Friday for a nonconference game against Dundee-Crown.

It was well worth the drive to the field turf surface at Buffalo Grove as the Grenadiers earned a 4-0 victory in their season opener.

Nikki Zaino had a first-half goal with an assist from Sarah Stram.

Kelly Naughton scored twice in the second half, first with an assist from Stram and later with a helper from Diane Gomez, and Stram finished the scoring with an assist from Jocelyn Potratz.

Melissa Solorio made 5 saves in goal for the Grens.

Ÿ New Trier and Prospect both scored in the second half in a 1-1 draw in nonconference play in Mt. Prospect.

Martina Kowalczulk accounted for Prospect’s scoring with an assist from Trish Benson, and Eileen McTigue played goalkeeper for the Knights.
