County Clerk Orr says Palatine Township flier ‘inappropriately’ uses his name

Cook County Clerk David Orr issued a statement Monday stating a campaign flier distributed by a slate of Palatine Township candidates “inappropriately” uses his name, title and logo.

The statement came in response to the Palatine Republican Township Team’s flier, which shows a sample ballot with the names of the slate’s candidates highlighted.

While the sample ballot, minus the highlighting, is similar to what can be found on the clerk’s website, Orr states, “the flier also inappropriately uses my name, title and logo, and therefore may imply my endorsement of particular candidates. That it is not the case. As the election authority, I make it a practice never to endorse local candidates. I wanted to clarify this situation for the voters before tomorrow’s election.”

The Palatine Republican Township Team is one of three slates, consisting of 18 candidates in all, seeking Republican nominations for Palatine Township offices in Tuesday’s primary election. The general election is April 9.
