Lake County sheriff's deputy John Willer has been named the department's 2012 Deputy of the Year. Willer earned the award for his part in the arrest of an intoxicated, armed suspect in October 2011 in Antioch Township. Willer was sent to the suspect's house because of a domestic incident, police said. Upon arrival, he found the suspect holding two handguns to his own head, police said. The suspect was arrested without injuring himself or the deputies on the scene, police said. The Waukegan Exchange Club gave Willer the award.
