Way’s way works for Stevenson

Sophia Way scored a game-high 15 points, including a 3-pointer, and Stevenson’s girls basketball team captured a 34-28 win over host Lake Zurich in North Suburban Lake Division action Tuesday night.

Alex Elzinga and Taylor Buford added 8 and 7 points, respectively, for Stevenson (16-8, 9-2), which led 11-2 after one quarter but only 16-14 at halftime and 28-21 after three.

“We had our moments,” Patriots coach Tom Dineen said. “We were very good at times and — to Lake Zurich’s credit — not too good at times. Down the stretch, we did a lot of good things and pulled it out.”

Sara Gazdacka led Lake Zurich with 12 points.
