Aurora Central rallies from 11 down

Aurora Central Catholic mounted a furious second half run, rallying from an 11-point deficit to edge Guerin Prep 51-50 in Suburban Christian Blue action.

The host Chargers (11-11, 2-7) were led by senior co-captains Alex DeCreane with 19 and Lisa Rodriguez with 11. Both hit pressure free throws late in the 4th quarter to stave off Guerin’s comeback attempt. ACC avenged a 55-54 loss to Guerin on Dec. 7.

Geneva 57, Larkin 28: The Viking pulled into a first-place tie with Streamwood in the Upstate Eight River behind 13 points from Janie McCloughan and 11 from Sami Pawlak.

The Vikings (14-10, 8-2) led 19-5 after one quarter and 31-12 at the half. Amber McGhee had 12 points and Quixmia Washington scored 8 for Larkin (3-21, 1-9).

St. Charles North 67, Elgin 39: Sophomore Nicole Davidson tallied 11 of her game-high 21 points in the first quarter as the North Stars captured an Upstate Eight River Division decision.

Twelve different players scored for St. Charles North (8-16, 4-7) with Kayla Balousek collecting 8 points. Taylor Silvers and Alex Silverman chipped in 6 points each.

Wheaton North 65, West Aurora 55 (OT): Abriya Zeitz finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the host Blackhawks’s bid for a DuPage Valley Conference upset fell just short.

Erin Jacobsen added 11 points for West Aurora (9-13, 3-8) while Chrissy Baird poured in a game-high 27 points for Wheaton North (18-5, 9-1).

Aurora Christian 51, St. Francis 46: The Lady Eagles improved to 15-8 overall and 5-3 in the Suburban Christian Gold Division behind 24 points from junior Alyssa Andersen.

Natasha Brown pulled down 11 rebounds and added 6 points for Aurora Christian while Alex Hultine scored 7 and Kirsten Madsen had 6. Senior Kate Slattery finished with 22 points to pace St. Francis.

Sterling 52, Kaneland 40: Senior Allyson O’Herron drilled four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 18 points, but the Knights (12-10) fell at home. Sterling (15-12) led 24-12 at the half.

Montini 60, Rosary 26: Kateri Stone posted a game-high 20 points as the Broncos (25-1, 9-0) overpowered the Royals (12-11) for the second time this season.

Neuqua Valley 49, South Elgin 31: Kennede Miller had 11 points and Kara Rodriguez added 7 for South Elgin (14-11, 5-6) in the UEC Valley.

Bartlett 60, Oswego East 45:Alyssa Hernandez scored 11 points to lead a balanced Bartlett attack in this nonconference win. Ally Giampapa had 9 points for the Hawks (14-11) and Kaitlyn Brohan added 8.
