Retired priest dies in Mount Prospect

Funeral services were held Tuesday for the Rev. Edward Maraczewski, pastor emeritus of St. Anastasia Parish in Waukegan, a former chaplain at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines, and a resident of Mount Prospect.

Maraczewski, 93, who died Saturday, was director of pastoral care for Holy Family from 1986 until his retirement from active ministry in 1989. A native of Chicago, he entered the priesthood in 1945. He was the assistant pastor at Transfiguration Parish in Wauconda from 1960 to 1964, also teaching modern languages at the diocesan seminary in Mundelein. In 1971, he began a 14-year assignment as pastor of St. Anastasia Parish in Waukegan.
