Wheeling High School's award-winning step team, Crucial Step Clique, won back-to-back trophies on Saturday, Dec. 15, and Sunday, Dec. 16, in two challenging competitions.

On Saturday, the group captured first place at the Illinois Stepping League Regional Competition, held at Forest View Educational Center in Arlington Heights.

The team was also awarded the first place championship trophy at the Illinois Drill Team Association's competition on Sunday, held at Rolling Meadows High School.

Wheeling senior Jenny Hernandez received the Rising Star award at the latter competition.

Tanisha Brewer and her assistant, Lauren Miles, coach the highly acclaimed step team.
