Palatine Township Elementary District 15 officials have decided to hold onto 40 vacant acres in Inverness until the real estate market improves. Superintendent Scott Thompson said several parties have inquired about the Ela Road property, but that brokers estimated it's worth less than the $3.2 million the district paid in 1999 with the idea of building a fifth junior high if needed. Some board members requested the district draw up basic plans to turn the plot into a multipurpose athletic field with parking and washrooms, provided the design costs are minimal.
