Food drive Saturday for Palatine Food Pantry

A food drive benefiting the Palatine Food Pantry will take place on Saturday, Dec. 22, during the Palatine and Fremd boys feeder basketball program games at Palatine High School, 1111 North Rohlwing Road. Teams from 5th through 8th grades will play from 2 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. Anyone coming to the games is asked to bring nonperishable items to help residents in need living within Palatine Township boundaries. Currently, the pantry — which serves more than 300 families monthly — is in need of breakfast foods like cereal and granola bars; canned beef stew, ravioli and chili; beef, chicken and vegetable soup; peanut butter and strawberry jelly; flour and sugar; shampoo, toothpaste, hand soap and other personal care items; laundry detergent; cleaning items; and paper products. For information, contact Chris Kontney at (847) 755-6648.
