West Chicago honors Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network

West Chicago, Illinois: December 19, 2012 – The City of West Chicago honored Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, the nonprofit organ procurement organization, at the Dec. 17, 2012 City Council meeting with a Proclamation commending its work in DuPage County.

Gift of Hope is dedicated to saving and enhancing the lives of as many people as possible through organ and tissue donation, and has helped to register more than 5 million donors from Illinois to help people waiting for lifesaving organ and tissue transplants.

Additionally, the Proclamation commends the decision of the Carney family, a DuPage County family whose son Jake tragically lost his life in a car accident, for courageously choosing to donate his liver, pancreas and kidneys to two people who desperately needed them.

The Carney's story has inspired DuPage County municipalities to join Gift of Hope to help increase donation awareness by participating in the Workplace Partners campaign and playing an active role in saving and enhancing the lives of others.
