Judson taking submissions for Imago Film Festival

Judson University is now accepting film submissions for the ninth annual Imago Film Festival, which will be April 2-6, 2013, at Judson University in Elgin, 1151 N. State St. The Imago Film Festival showcases faith-based Indy film that emphasizes image and story.

The early deadline for submission is Dec. 20 with a fee of $30; late deadline is Feb. 20, 2013, with a fee of $40. Submissions must be less than 30 minutes in length in DVD format and deal with images and stories about the spiritual journey of the human experience through any genre the filmmaker sees fit.

Filmmakers may submit as many entries as they like. Films will be judged by a panel of local university film and media professors, as well as professionals in the field.

This year’s film festival will screen original films and feature nationally known speakers. Past speakers have included Steve Taylor, director of Blue Like Jazz; David McFadzean, creator of “Home Improvement”; and Phil Vischer, creator of “Veggie Tales.” There also will be film discussions, workshops, and an awards ceremony.

The prizes for the winning films are as follows: Best of Show — $1,000; first prize, 1 to 15 minutes, $250; first prize, 15 to 30 minutes, $250; and Audience Choice Award, $100.
