Big Ten honors for Bartlett’s Gulczynski

Sophomore Jacki Gulczynski, a 6-1 forward from Bartlett High School, earned her first Big Ten Player of the Week honor, sharing the award with Aulani Sinclair of Indiana, conference officials announced Monday.

Gulczynski, a Carol Stream native, posted back-to-back double-doubles last week, setting career highs in points and rebounds in consecutive games. It is the first time in four years that a member of the Wisconsin women’s basketball team has been named Big Ten Conference weekly winner.

Gulczynski started the week with 16 points and 11 rebounds against Florida Atlantic on Dec. 10. She scored four of the Badgers’ 13 points in overtime to help secure the 82-73 win. Gulczynski also added 3 assists and 1 block in a career-high 38 minutes of play.

Against Eastern Illinois on Dec. 15, Gulczynski scored Wisconsin’s first 11 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field to start the game. She finished with career and game-highs of 24 points and 13 rebounds while adding 3 assists and 2 blocks in the 76-47 win.
